SOE13370 – Lunsford Lane, Aylesford

Update: 15.07.2025

PROJECT: SOE13370

Location: Lunsford Lane, Aylesford

Update: 15.07.2025

Project complete.

Update: 01.07.2025

This week saw our team open cut a trench to create a new feed for a further 3 houses. This will be reinstated Thursday and Friday and looked to be cleared Monday 7th July.

Update: 17.06.2025

This week sees our team complete all the remaining metallic main on Springfield Road, reinstatement will follow w/c 23rd however, access will always be maintained despite our excavations.

A set of two-way lights will be installed O/S 239 Lunsford Lane for approx. 1-2 weeks, this will be to finish off the last section of metallic main.

This will then be project complete and all closures and site content will be removed.

Update: 03.06.2025

Engineering works will be completed on Lunsford Lane this week and works will continue into Springfield Road and Brooks Road over the course of the next 3 weeks to also replace all the old metallic mains in these roads.

Next week will see our Reinstatement team backfill and tarmac all the open excavation for Lunsford Lane to enable us to remove our closure and close Springfield Road at the bottom if required for 3-4 weeks.

We have also sent a second team to this project to help with speed of completing due to the difficulty of this job.

Update: 20.05.2025

The team are still struggling regarding pressures and difficult services on this road.

Next week will see us send an additional team to help with the speed of this project, hopefully this helps catch up to where we should be.

Our closure has now been moved to enable access from both directions and now the location of the gas main has moved to the middle of the road.

Aiming to have this road complete in the next 3 weeks.

Update: 06.05.2025

Within the last two weeks we have needed to upsize several services along this stretch of mains replacement due to the poor pressures that the teams have been finding. This has resulted in them needing to dig x2 the number of holes normally required resulting in smaller insertion being completed.

Unfortunately, the team have also found a unrecorded gas main on this road that will also need replacing while we are here.

The team are still working towards Brooks Road and are aiming to have Lunsford completed within the next 4 weeks.

Update: 22.04.2025

Since works have begun, our team have found the gas main to be seriously deep and in some places the gas main being as deep as 3.5m when in most cases gas mains are only 1.5m deep. This has resulted in bigger and more time-consuming holes being dug, despite this the team have managed to replace over 150m of old gas mains this week and are still working towards brooks road. The team are working long hours to make sure this work is done as quickly and safely as possible.
