Update: 01.04.2026
Last week, the team successfully completed all works in Queens Road, with all services now transferred onto the new plastic gas main. From this week, reinstatement works will begin, and the site will gradually be cleared of equipment and traffic management.
The team has now begun engineering works in Hatchgate, with a target of completing approximately 100 metres of main installation.
Due to Easter programme requirements, the team will temporarily move to Bonehurst Road. As a result, some excavations in Hatchgate may remain open where necessary, with the team planning to return during the week commencing 20 April to complete the remaining works.
From next week, the team will be working on Bonehurst Road under multi-way traffic lights for the two-week Easter period, near the Cambridge Hotel. The aim is to complete approximately 500 metres of mains replacement during this time.
We thank residents and road users for their continued patience and cooperation while these essential works are carried out.

Last week the team completed all engineering works in Beechwood and Empire Villas. Reinstatement works on these roads will take place this week.
Throughout the week, the team will also begin removing excess barriers and traffic management from these roads and relocating them to Queens Road, where works are currently ongoing.
This week the team aims to insert the full length of the new main in Queens Road. The abandonment works will begin this week and are expected to continue into next week.
From the week commencing 30 March 2026, the team plans to move into Hatchgate for approximately two weeks, subject to engineering progress.

Works have now commenced at Empire Villas. To complete this phase of the project, a temporary road closure will be required. Once the works at Empire Villas have been completed, we will move on and continue around to Beechwood Villas.

The engineering works at Fairlawns have been completed. Works have now commenced at The Grove, which is subject to a road closure.
Upon completion, works will proceed to Rosemary Lane, which we are due to implement the closure on Rosemary Lane on Monday 02/02/2026.

Works have resumed on Fairlawns and are expected to remain in place for approximately 2–3 weeks.
Once completed, works will move onto The Grove, where they will be carried out under a full road closure.

Limes Avenue is now complete from an engineering perspective. Over the next few days, we will be clearing the site ahead of the Christmas shutdown. Works will resume week commencing 5th January on Fairlawns.

The works on Limes Avenue have commenced under a full road closure at the junction with Balcombe Road. These arrangements are expected to remain in place for an estimated duration of 3–4 weeks.
We are due to start works in Fairlawns during the week commencing 15th December. We will be working outside properties numbered 50–45. These works will remain in place until our Christmas shutdown.
We will return on 5th January to continue the works
