Last week, the team abandoned the existing gas main on Farleigh Road, working from the junction with Crewes Lane down to property 188.

This week, the team will begin preparatory work and carry out trial holes on the final section of Farleigh Road, from property 188 down to property 161.

Next week, the team will complete the installation of the new gas main along this final section, from property 188 down to property 161.

Farleigh Road is scheduled to reopen on 4 November.  

WCB Utilities Ltd Project Tithepit Shaw Lane (Alexandra Road/Farleigh Road)

Last week, the team completed the works on Alexandra Road. They also began works on Farleigh Road, carrying out live insertion works from the roundabout with Sunny Bank up to property 161.

This week, the team will remain on Farleigh Road, carrying out live insertion works from property 161 up to the junction with Crewes Lane. They will also abandon the existing main between properties 161 and 169.

Next week, the team will continue live insertion works up to property 221, while also completing the connection into Crewes Lane. They will abandon the existing main from property 189 up to the junction with Crewes Lane.

Planned road opening:

• Farleigh Road: Due to open on 4 November 2026

Last week, we carried out approximately 160m of dead insertion works on Alexandra Road, starting from the junction with Chelsham Road.

This week, we are completing a further 140m of dead insertion works on Alexandra Road, progressing towards Greenhill Lane to complete the works on this road.

Next week, we plan to carry out approximately 250m of live insertion works on Farleigh Road, starting from the roundabout with Sunny Bank.

Alexandra Road is due to open on 02/10/26. Farleigh Road is due to close on 21/09/26 and open again on 30/10/26.
