Our WCB Utilities team have now completed this project.

We have maid superb progress with the replacement of gas mains on Walderslade Road and successfully put in 900m of new Plastic PE pipe last week. We are currently working to refill holes and be completed by 02/09/2024. Enabling a clear route for all the schools and commuters in the area, with access from every direction we have had closed for the previous 6 weeks.

Our two teams have had to do a few weeks of prep work due to the size of the mains. We are aiming to achieve two large insertions that will see our gas mains replaced from The Ridgeway to Alamein Avenue over the next two weeks.

We have multiple teams on this project with the aim to get both mains inserted from Maidstone Road to Magpie Hall Road, the majority of the inserted pipe will be decommissioned the same week.
Our closure is currently located at Maidstone Road junction and by the Snodhurst Bottom pitch and putt. We have also had to close the junction of Park Crescent and Magpie Hall Road. Residents will use Ridgeway to access their property on Walderslade Road.
Diversion route in place is Maidstone Road, Walderslade Woods, Taddington Wood Lane, Robin Hood Lane and Walderslade Road.

We are replacing two metallic gas mains along Walderslade road, the smaller diameter pipe is being replaced from the junction of Maidstone Road to junction of Magpie Hall Road and we aim to achieve all this 300m during this summer holiday. The second larger diameter main runs down to Bradfields Avenue West, this will be completed our a multi year plan. We envision completing 600m of the 1.5km of replacement required this year.
We will have a multi phased road closure as we proceed from Maidstone towards Magpie Hall Road and then from magpie Hall Road to Alamein Avenue.
