All work is completed up tot eh junction of Beeches Walk, this junction will be looked to be re-opened by Friday 10th October, we will then look to close off the junction of West Way for approximately 2-3 weeks while we continue down Banstead Road. The team have been averaging 100m per week, however they will be looking to increase this to around 150-200m per week as of W.c 20th and speed the works up.

We appreciate the inconvenience these works have caused and the patience you have with these works.

Update: 23.09.2025

Last week the team have now inserted both gas mains past crossways and completed the connection, all reinstatement is now complete, and the closure will be removed on 23/09 on Crossways.
Beeches walk will remain closed, and we will need to close The Warren for approximately 3 weeks while we complete the connections from Banstead Road South into these roads.

The team are still on track to continue all the way down Banstead Road south under two-way lights with side road closure until November.

Update: 09.09.2025

The team are replacing both gas mains that are on Banstead Road. These works will stretch from Staplehurst Road to Downs road of the course of the next 12 weeks. The team are currently working up to Crossways, they will do a connection into this road to provide a better back feed for when the main is in high demand. The lights are stretched to 200m at the moment to maximise length of works to try and complete these works as quickly as possible. Across the next weeks several side roads will be closed for 3-week durations as we progress down.

Update: 26.08.2025

This week Staplehurst Road will be re-opened and now site cleared all gas works have been completed. Our set of two-way lights have now been installed on Banstead Road, we will be installing a closure on Crossways once Staplehurst Road is open, to allow for storage and to make the final connection into these side roads as we progress down the road over the course of the next few weeks.

Update: 12.08.2025

Our works last week saw the team complete 120m of mains replacement in Radcliffe Gardens and Staplehurst Road. This week the team will be inserting the rest of Staplehurst Road and taking on a 150m into Harbury Road. The final connection on the w.c 18th August will see a set of two-way lights installed on Banstead Road to allow us to create a connection utilising our current closure on Staplehurst Road. Staplehurst Road will be open before schools return however our set of traffic lights will remain in place for a while.

Update: 29.07.2025

This week saw our closure on Staplehurst road installed; our team are working on our first section of works on Radcliffe Gardens which also involves a mains connection onto Staplehurst Road. This week site has been fully cleared. Our team will not be on site again until 28.07.25 in which the team will go to Staplehurst Road under a closure for the 6 weeks holiday.

Update: 01.07.2025

Works have now completed on Sunnymede Avenue and cleared. This week has seen our team return into Fairway to look to complete the rest of whats remaining over the course of the next 3 weeks. Due to the service density and many properties needing to be upsized this is going to need to be in smaller pushes per week.

Update: 17.06.2025

Works in Sunnymeade Avenue, will be complete as of W/c 16th June. Our team will move into Fairway to finish of the remaining section of gas main that is left working from the junction of Vincent Avenue down towards Fairlawn Road. This will take approximately 2 weeks under a road closure. However, the closure on Sunnymeade avenue will be removed before we do this.

Update: 03.06.2025

This week sees the rerun of our team in Sunnymeade Avenue, as expected this week will see our team insert all this section, however, only abandon and renew half of this. This is due to the service density of this road, and many properties being needed to upsize the existing pipe. Our team will then take a further 2 weeks to complete this before moving into Fairway for a further 2-3 weeks under a closure however, the closure on Sunnymeade Avenue will be removed before doing so.

Update: 20.05.2025

W/c 2nd June will see our team return firstly into Sunnymeade Avenue for approx. 2-3 weeks under a closure and then back into Fairway for a further 2-3 weeks also under a closure. We apologise for the inconvenience of mobilising and demobilising and hope you understand.

Update: 06.05.2025

Our closure has now been removed off Downs Road and relocated at Fairway / Vincent Avenue. The team last week replaced all the old gas mains in Vincent Avenue, this week sees them continuing Fairway looking to have this road completed in the next 3 weeks and this will then see them go into Sunnymeade avenue for 2 weeks.

Update: 22.04.2025

Last week saw our team working in Downs Road, utilising the school half term for minimal disruption. When the team went to do the final connection on Thursday, they discovered this to be surrounded in concrete, so to do this connection and reinstate meant we have needed to extend our permit for a few days to allow for concrete curing. The team are expecting this site to be totally cleared by 27th of April and moving into the fairway and pine crescent looking to replace all the old metallic gas mains outstanding in these roads.

Update: 04.08.2025

Our WCB Utilities team has completed all gas replacement works on Barrow Hedges Way, Barrow Hedges Close, Central Way and Farmdale Road. The team last week had gone into Pine crescent to replace 120m of old metallic main and completed these works all in a week. Utilising the holiday period from 7th of April – 21St of April will see a road closure implicated on Downs Road, the works will be completed in this two-week period with access being maintained for all residents and especially for the Royal Marden Hospital in which with have liaised with on the upcoming to ours works.
