SOE9464 – Hillcroombe Road, Sutton (Farm Road)

Over the past two weeks, the team has commenced open-cut gas mains replacement works on Prior Avenue. These works are being undertaken to increase gas network capacity and improve pressure within the local area.

As this is a complex programme of works, it is expected to take some time to complete. However, two teams are working on site to help maximise productivity and reduce the overall duration of the project.

This week, the team is aiming to complete approximately 90 metres of gas main installation on Prior Avenue, with this section expected to be finished by the end of the week commencing 13 July. The teams will then continue working on Prior Avenue and Fram Road over the following four to five weeks.

We would like to thank residents and road users for their continued patience, understanding and cooperation while these essential works are carried out to help maintain a safe and reliable gas network.

Works complete.

Most of the works on Hillcroome Road have now been completed. We have a small section of open-cut excavation to finish at the junction of Mayfield Road.

We are also currently working on Upland Road and Downside Road. These works will be carried out under a road closure.

Works have now commenced on Hillcroome Road, which is subject to a road closure. These works are expected to take approximately two weeks, after which we will progress to Upland Road, where a further closure will be in place.

We will then continue towards Downside Road, where the project will be completed.

A road closure has been erected on Downside Road at the junction with Banstead Road. Approximately 75% of the works on Downside Road have now been completed.

To facilitate collaborative works with the water board, we now need to commence works on Hillcroome Road. These works will begin on Monday 19th January, starting at the junction with Mayfield Road and progressing towards Upland Road.

Works on Farm Close have been completed, and site clearance is nearing completion. The works are scheduled to recommence in the area on Downside Road on 2 January 2026. The works will be undertaken with a closure in place at the junction of Banstead Road.

Works have been completed on Willis Avenue and Prior Avenue. These sections were prioritised due to upcoming resurfacing works. We are now finalising the last section of Kayemoor Avenue, after which we will progress into Farm Close.

Gas mains replacement works on Willis Avenue have commenced under a road closure at the junction with Banstead Road. We will then progress into Prior Avenue to accommodate planned resurfacing works scheduled for early December. Upon completion of these activities, we will continue into Kayemoor Avenue.

We are returning to this project and will be starting works on Willis Avenue and Prior Avenue from 10th November.
Priority will be given to Prior Avenue, as the council are planning to resurface the carriageway.
We expect to be working on these roads for approximately 4 weeks, gradually progressing into Kayemoor Avenue as the project continues.

We have one more week left on Upland Road and the team will be leaving to complete another project.

The team have finished in Chalgrove Road and have moved onto Upland Road where the road closure has moved and we will be here for an estimated 4 weeks.

Our WCB Utilities team are progressing well and will be finishing in Chalgrove Road WC 02/06/2025, the next road due to be replaced is Upland Road full length, this will be completed under a road closure.

We have moved the location of the road closure to the junction of Mayfield Road, we are continuing on The Ridgway and working our way round to Chalgrove Road.

Our WCB Utilities team continue to decommission the main along The Ridgeway. This will be completed w/c 05.05.2025 and we will be completing a small section on Chalgrove Road. The next road will be Upland road where we have over 750m of old metallic gas main to replace.

Our team will return to The Ridgway once they are back from their Easter critical work WC 21.04.25.
