Update: 23.09.2025
As of this week all engineering works have been completed on Park Avenue, the team have completed these works, and it is just reinstatement works remaining. As soon as this is completed the closure will be removed and that will be all gas works done. The only outstanding mains replacement is now from First Avenue out onto Watling Street and a section on Barnsole Road near School Avenue in which needs to be Open cut. These sections have no scheduled dates however residents will be notified when the time comes.

Barnsole Road will be done by 15/09/25 and our team will move into Park Avenue in which they will have the 4-way junction closed at Oxford Road and Park Avenue. The team last week was ale to complete a further 80m of mains replacement and this week look to do another 100-120m of mains replacement down to second avenue, before moving away on Monday.
Update: 26.08.2025
Last week saw all gas mains replacement and reinstatement completed down to Livingstone Road. The site content has been cleared and all moved to Second venue where the team will continue to work down Barnsole road for a following 2 weeks trying to complete 99% of what is left on this road. Unfortunately, we will need to return in another holiday period to complete the 70m of remaining metallic replacement works as this will require a open cut trench.
Works are expected to be clear by 15th September.
Update: 12.08.2025
Last week saw our team discover that a sewer main has been installed directly above our gas main resulting in a section of about 70m needing to be replanned for another date. Fortunately the team was able to backfill these holes and carry on progressing down Barnsole doing another 100m of replacement last week.
This week will see the team compete the replacement to the junction of Livingstone Road.
As of next week our closure will be moved up to the junction of First Avenue in which it will remain until our works have completed.
Update: 29.07.2025
The team on site last week inserted approx. 200m of gas mains with new plastic main down towards School Avenue.
Wednesday will see our closure moved down Barnsole Road to near School Avenue as this will be where we have a large connection hole out making it unable for cars to pass safely.
Our team are looking to get down towards Living stone road within the next 2-3 weeks in which will then see our closure jump from the bottom right to the top of first avenue to complete as much of the remaining as we can before school’s return.
Our team have really progressed well down this road and are looking good to have this completed this year.
Update: 15.07.2025
Last week saw our team insert from the junction of Brasenose Road to the junction of Carlton Avenue.
This week will see our closure move up to insert and replace from Carlton Avenue to School Avenue.
The junction of Brasenose will remain closed for the duration of our works, along with other side roads as we progress along the road looking to replace all existing metallic main on Barnsole Road.
We have the full summer holidays and hoping to get this completed as soon and as safely as possible.
