Update: 08.07.2026
Last week, the team successfully completed all planned works, with reinstatement carried out shortly afterwards. The site has now been fully cleared and all traffic management removed.
One remaining service connection was completed following the main programme of works. With this now finished, the road closure has been removed and the project is complete.
We would like to thank residents and road users for their continued patience, understanding and cooperation while these essential works were carried out to help maintain a safe and reliable gas network.
Update: 19.06.2026
Last week, the team’s focus was on Eastdene Avenue, where they successfully replaced the full 100 metres of gas main. This progress also enabled part of the reinstatement works to be completed on Parklawn Avenue.
This week, the team has returned to Parklawn Avenue, where they will be working over the next two weeks to complete the remaining section of the project, which is just under 300 metres in length.
Once these works are complete, the engineering team will have finished all planned activity in the area. However, residents may continue to see our reinstatement team on site as they carry out final reinstatement works, clear the site, and prepare the road for reopening.
We would like to thank residents for their continued patience, understanding, and cooperation while these essential works are carried out to help maintain a safe and reliable gas network.
Update: 02.06.2026
Over the last few weeks the team have been progressing along Parklawn Avenue.
The next week will see them enter Eastdene Avenue to look to complete all 90m in this road in one week and the followed by reinstatement the following week. While reinstatement is taking place the team will continue again back along Parklawn down towards where the team originally started.
We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation while these essential works are carried out and apologise for the length of time these necessary upgrades can take.
