SOE15129 – Pinewood Road, Bromley (Hayes Lane / Hayes Road)

Our WCB Utilities team laid approximately 100 meters of new main along Hayes Lane, progressing towards Bromley Football Club last week.

This week, work will continue with approximately 95 meters of new main being laid o the opposite side of Hayes Lane, extending into Letchworth Drive. To safely complete these works, Letchworth Drive will be closed until the 24th of August.

Next week, the team will move to the roundabout at Mead Way to continue the installation. Mead Way will be closed until the 21st of August while these works are carried out.

Over the past two to three weeks, the team has been carrying out gas mains replacement works on Hayes Lane under multi-way temporary traffic lights and will continue progressing towards Hayes Road.

As part of this project, two existing gas mains—an 8-inch and a 4-inch main—are being replaced. The size and complexity of these assets require larger excavations than usual, which is why more extensive work areas are visible on site.

The team currently anticipates moving into Hayes Road during the week commencing 27 July or the week commencing 3 August, depending on progress made on Hayes Lane and the completion of the connection works.

We would like to thank residents and road users for their continued patience, understanding and cooperation while these essential works are carried out to help maintain a safe and reliable gas network.

The closure on Mead way has been cancelled due to a clash in traffic management that is out of our control, these works will be replanned at a later date.

We are currently working on Sandford Road, works are being help up due to the gas main being under trees so we are having to open cut a new main.

We have a second team working on Pickhurst Park and Meadway, a closure will be erected on Monday/Tuesday depending on the works happening on Hayes Lane

We are currently working in Cromwell Avenue/ Cromwell Close.  Works are progressing well and working our way towards Sandford Road.

We have a second team working on Stone Road and Cameron Road – this will not affect the buses.

We are currently working in Langdon Road- Where we have encountered engineering problems and has delayed works  and Durham Avenue engineering will be completed end of this week then will be a case of reinstatement and site clearance.

We have found extra mains that need to be replaced on Durham Road, however this shouldn’t cause much of a delay.  We are also starting in Langdon road as of next week.

We are currently working in Durham Avenue, from Monday we will be in Durham Road with this junction closed for 2 weeks.

This week we have inserted up to junction of Durham Avenue and will be clearing site to then start work in Druids Way.

Week commencing 12.08.2024 our team will be getting up to Highfield Junior School and the week after we are on target to Durham Avenue.
