SOE12769 – Selcroft Road, Purely (Lower Road / Downs Court Road)

Update: 17.03.2026

The team completed the final engineering works in Famet Avenue and Famet Close last week. This week, our reinstatement team will be working in these roads to complete the remaining reinstatement works.

With the engineering works now finished in these areas, the team has progressed onto Lower Road, where works are currently taking place under a road closure.

The team anticipates that all engineering works on Lower Road will be completed within 2–3 weeks, after which reinstatement works will follow for approximately one additional week.

We kindly ask residents and road users to refrain from parking in coned-off areas, as this can delay the works and result in the road remaining closed for longer than necessary.

Works on Riddlesdown Road are coming to an end. We will be moving on to the next section of the project at Roke Lodge Road from Monday 16th February.

Update: 27.01.2026

Works on Riddlesdown Road are progressing well and are anticipated to be completed before the original end date.

We are currently experiencing issues with road users diverting via Brancaster Lane and Coombe Hill Road. Road users are requested to avoid these routes and follow the signed diversion via Warren Road.

Update: 14.01.2026

Gas works on Oakwood Avenue have now resumed and are nearing completion. On Monday 19th, the road closure on Oakwood Avenue will be removed and re-established on Riddlesdown Road, near the junction with Warren Road.

Engineering works at this location are expected to take approximately 3–4 weeks.

Update: 17.12.2025

Works on Selcroft Road have now been completed, and activities have progressed into Oakwood Avenue. The works are programmed to recommence on 2 January 2026, at which time Oakwood Avenue will be subject to a full road closure. Selcroft Road will also be temporarily closed to facilitate the storage and operation of the spoil compound. Upon completion of the works on Oakwood Avenue, activities will subsequently recommence on Riddlesdown Road.

Update: 02.12.2025

Works are progressing well on Selcroft Road. We have also erected a closure on Purley Hill at its junction with Selcroft Road, where works will continue along this section and then back out onto Selcroft Road.
We are planning to start works on Oakwood Avenue during the week commencing 15th December, which will take us up to the Christmas break. We will then return on 5th January to continue the programme.

Update: 19.11.2025

We have completed the works on Cliffe End, and the site is currently undergoing reinstatement to return the carriageway to its original condition. Works have now commenced on Selcroft Road under a road closure located at the junction with Downs Court Road. These works are expected to continue up to Christmas as we progress along the length of the road.

Update: 05.11.2025

Works have now started on Cliffe End and are progressing well. Once these are completed, we will move on to Selcroft Road, with works scheduled to commence during the week beginning 17th November 2025.
