Over the past couple of weeks, the team has been carrying out works on Purley Rise. The road closure has now been removed, and the team is aiming to complete the remaining works by the end of this week.
Works have also commenced on Purley Knoll, where the team will maximise progress before the week commencing 20 July, when the road will need to be reopened.
A further phase of works will be required under a future road closure to complete the remaining gas mains replacement. Once these works have been scheduled, affected residents will be notified in advance.
We would like to thank residents and road users for their continued patience, understanding and cooperation while these essential works are carried out to help maintain a safe and reliable gas network.

Last week, the team completed the remaining gas main replacement works on Box Ridge Avenue.
This week, the team is working along Purley Rise, progressing towards Hill Road. This will enable the connection works to take place during the week commencing 22 June on both Hill Road and Purley Rise.
Once these connection works have been completed, we will look to remove the road closure in this location and continue our programme of works on Purley Rise.

Update: 02.06.2026
Last week the team began works in Box Ridge Avenue, this week the reinstatement team are completing all works on Hill Road and Box ridge to then allow our closure to be flipped on Monday 8th June to the junction of Purley Rise. This will also the team to make the connection at the 4-way junction and at purely rise the following week.
All residents will receive notification of our works and when access will be required for us to turn the gas off and back on again once the main has been replaced.
