SOE6852 – Woodhyrst Gardens, Kenley (Cullesdown Rd)
PROJECT: SOE6852
Location: Woodhyrst Gardens, Kenley
(Cullesdown Rd)
Update: 08.07.2026
Over the past few weeks, the team has successfully completed more than 500 metres of 180mm gas main replacement, from the junction with Firs Road to Langham Dene. This week, the remaining service connections and tie-in to the existing gas main will be completed. Reinstatement works will then take place over the weekend and continue on Monday and Tuesday, after which the road closure will be removed.
A further phase of works will be required to complete the open-cut gas main upsizing on Higher Drive. These works are not yet scheduled, and affected residents will be notified in advance once the necessary approvals have been received and dates have been confirmed.
We would like to thank residents for their continued patience, understanding and cooperation while these essential works are carried out to help maintain a safe and reliable gas network.
Update: 19.06.2026
This week, the road closure has been put in place to allow our engineers to carry out the gas mains replacement safely. A signed diversion route is in operation for those requiring access around the closure, and access for residents will be maintained wherever possible.
We appreciate the inconvenience these restrictions may cause; however, they are essential to enable the safe replacement of the gas main.
The team is aiming to replace just under 200 metres of gas main this week. Following this, they plan to complete at least 100 metres of replacement work each week, with the project currently scheduled for completion by 14 July 2026.
We would like to thank residents for their continued patience, understanding, and cooperation while these essential works are carried out to help maintain a safe and reliable gas network.
Update: 02.06.2026
Works will look to commence W/C 15th June on Cullesden Road starting from the junction of Firs Road. The team will look to complete these works by 14/07 should all engineering works go to plan.
Update: 14.05.2026
Reinstatement works have now been completed on Croftleigh Avenue, and this phase of works has been successfully cleared.
Over the coming weeks, the team is scheduled to begin works on Cullesden Road under a road closure, starting from Firs Road. Every effort will be made to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible.
Update: 29.04.2026
Over the past couple of weeks, the team has completed all works in Langham Dene, and the road has now been fully cleared.
Last week and this week, the team also completed all engineering works in Croftleigh Avenue and Reedham Park Avenue. This means that all services on these roads are now supplied by the new plastic mains.
Reinstatement works will take place next week, and we aim to have both roads fully cleared of all site equipment and traffic management by 8 May.
The team will then be finished in this area for a couple of weeks before returning to Cullesdown Road, where works will be carried out under a road closure. Advance warning and notification letters will be sent out over the next few weeks to ensure all residents are informed of the upcoming works on the main road.
We would like to thank everyone for their patience and cooperation in allowing us to complete these essential works, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused during the project.
Update: 01.04.2026
Last week, the team completed all final engineering works in Highland Road.
This week, the team has moved into Langham Park, where they aim to complete all works within the next two weeks.
Meanwhile, reinstatement works in Highland Road are taking place this week, and the site will begin to be cleared of equipment and traffic management.
We thank residents and road users for their continued patience and cooperation while these works are completed.
Update: 17.03.2026
Last week the team completed all works in Woodhyrst Gardens. This week the team has moved into Highland Road, where they aim to complete the insertion of all new gas mains during the week.
The abandonment works will then be completed over the following two weeks.
This programme means the team expects to move into Langham Dene during the week commencing 30 March.
Our reinstatement team will follow closely behind to ensure that completed sections are restored promptly and kept as close as possible to the current working area.
We appreciate the cooperation of residents in the area while these essential works are carried out.
